Upon the approval of the Board of Directors of this noble institution, the administration appointed an Independent Elections Commission (I.E.C.) to oversee the electoral process. The Commission was chaired by Sunday-boy King, one of the instructors of the school. After few weeks of planning, the Commission presented student Jerry Sembeh of the Student Unification Party (SUP) and student Esther Nouch Liberty of the Student Integration Movement (SIM) to the administration for approval. Unfortunately, student Jerry was disqualified because the school’s record shows that he had signed a behavior bond. Accordingly, SUP presented another candidate, student Angel Praise Akerele of the 12th-grade class as its new standard bearer and she was approved by the administration.
Each party was given a day to campaign on campus. The election was held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, and student Angel Praise Akerele of the Student Unification Party (SUP) defeated student Esther Nouch Liberty by seven votes for the presidency.
Meanwhile, an inaugural committee has been set up. The inaugural program is slated for Friday, March 9, 2018, at 10: 30 am. The venue will be announced later.
The inaugural committee members are:
- Jesse B. Gleegbar, Jr. Chairman
- Sunday-boy S. King co-chairman
- McDonald Gbasay Secretary
- Lewis c. Constance, member
- Edwin Varfee, member
The President-elect, Angel Praise Akerele, promised to make Christian High School second to none in Liberia by working alongside with the administration to promote the institution and to ensure that needy students are not put out for tuitions. She vowed to raise funds to help them. “I will make sure that students are not put out of classes for tuitions,” Akerele said during the debate.
Please pray for the success of the inaugural program and the financial needs of the needy students.
